Governance

Reflecting the joint funding situation the Unit is overseen by the governing board of the NCRI and the NIHR Research Capability Programme’s External Reference Group. The terms of reference are as follows:

• To ensure that the strategic direction of the NCRI Informatics Initiative is both informed and effective, the impact of the Unit’s work is maximised and to ensure consistency with their own organisational objectives;
• To approve budgets prepared by the Director (with the help of the Unit);
• To monitor progress against objectives and milestones agreed with the Director;
• To provide the forum to which the Director is accountable;

In view of the infrequency of the meetings of the oversight groups and their strategic remit, an Executive Group has been established to aid the Director of the Unit with operational decisions. The Executive Group is composed as follows.
